Don't Lose Hope(dale)

I continued on my quest to check out new bodies of water instead of going back to the same old places. After some Google Mapping on Saturday night I decided to check out Hopedale Pond since it wasn't too far from me.

Got there around 8:30 and basically had the place to myself. It was a nice paddle but the water is overgrown with weeds right now. (Much like everywhere I go these days)

About 1/2 hr in I hit a pair of nice 2lbers on the Senko that put up nice fights.

I gave the frog a shot since this place is covered in pads. Had a couple of small blowups but no connection made.

Also tried some texas rigged creature baits with limited success. After all was said and done I managed 6 fish (all < = 2lb)

I like this place and I'll likely be back but it's tough to fish anything that's not weedless.

  • I FISH HOPEDALE POND A LOT THERE ARE SOME PIGS IN THERE I PREFER THE LEFT SIDE OF POND . THERE IS A STONE FOOT BRIDGE ALL THE WAY BACK WERE FISHING IS PRETTY GOOD HOWEVER MOST PIGS COME FROM TWO FEET OR CLOSER TO SHORE IN MY OPINION (HAPPY HOOKER08 )HOPEDALE POND

  • Does anyone listen to that station anymore????

    98.5 FTW!

  • I thought this was going to be about Dale Arnold getting his show back on WEEI :(

  • Thanks for the Tip Shawn, thinking back I should have definitely thrown the popper a little. (I need to pick up a buzz bait or 2) It might have been a bit of a pain but I probably would have gotten some good strikes.

  • I used to fish that place when I was younger they even stocked it with trout this year for the first time that I know of some real nice bass in there. Also a lot of big pickerel and remember as a kid catching some real nice cats out of there.

  • fishforbass, thanks for the info! That shoreline is where I caught most of my fish. There was some good structure and I was getting a lot of bites.

I started to head towards the back but the sea of pads and lack of time convinced me to stay up front.

Next time I'll definitely make the paddle down there.
